I had the privilege to get my hands on a Lenovo IdeaPad S145, this is for my nephew’s online classes. During the rush, thousands of people were trying to get a gaming laptop or a high specced business laptop. But that costs much and I try to check the specs first before checking the brand but we all have our preferences, but now is the time to be practical. I had a couple of emails asking what is the best budget gaming laptop for online schooling. I ask them, “Do you really need a gaming laptop for online schooling?” I often suggest to just get a Chromebook, then a gaming desktop. Then I stumbled upon this model, we all know that Lenovo launched the 25th-anniversary model for the IBM Thinkpad which I wanted to buy out of nostalgia. (I owned and used an IBM Thinkpad T40 so I know that the Lenovo brand known for its phones came to the laptop market.
This laptop comes in two flavors an AMD system and an Intel system, I got the I5-8265U with 4 GB RAM – which I upgraded to 8 GB for future-proofing. I was given an option for bigger storage (1 TB HDD) or faster boot times and overall R/W (512 GB SSD) so I opted for the SSD version. This model (81MU00QAPH) has the GeForce MX 110 and I was surprised that I was able to play GTA 5 at reasonable frames at 720p. If you want a great laptop for everyday use that’s thin and light has reasonable specs and a budget price. Get this laptop, it practical.
